There is no admission to attend. New this year, attendees who arrive without food will have several food trucks on hand to satisfy their appetites. Residents are encouraged to pack a snack and bring soft-sided balls, Frisbees and other kid- and crowd-friendly toys. Pets, tents, outdoor cooking and personal-use sparklers are not allowed in the Concourse area. Drones are also prohibited in the Concourse and fireworks areas.
If you're worried about the weather, you should know that there's a chance for thunderstorms every day this week, according to the National Weather Service. On Wednesday, a 30 percent chance for rain kicks in at about 9 a.m. and lasts all day. Otherwise, it will be mostly sunny, with highs reaching 90 degrees. We'll have that same 30 percent chance after dark, so keep an eye on the latest forecasts before heading out to enjoy the fireworks shows in the metro Atlanta area.
Sandy Springs spokesperson Sharon Kraun said "safety comes first" for the city, so officials will be keeping a close eye on the weather.
"We’ll do everything we can to keep the fireworks show on track, as long as we are able to do so safely," she said. "Rain and lightning are always a consideration, especially this time of year. Rain has been a consideration in years past, and we’ve been lucky with skies clearing just in time. Last year, show time came early, enabling residents the chance to watch and be on their way home ahead of a thunderstorm rolling in."
The Sandy Springs Stars and Stripes Celebration is sponsored by CBRE Global Investors (Concourse), Regent Partners and the city.
