SANDY SPRINGS, GA — The 5th Annual Sandy Springs Lantern Parade is back, but reimagined.
This year’s Lantern Parade is a "parade-in-place" event lighting up the city over the weekend of June 19-21 after sunset. Participants are encouraged to decorate their porches, balconies, yards, and windows with twinkle lights and decorations in all colors and forms in support of frontline workers and first responders. Globe lanterns, illuminated parasols with trimmings, and "keep-safe" angel lantern kits are available for purchase at ACE Hardware located at Cornerstone Square in Sandy Springs, 6348 Roswell Road. You can also click here for instructions on how to make a lantern kit from materials you have at home.
Parade-in-place participants are also encouraged to post to social media with the hashtag: #paradeinplacesandysprings. The city is encouraging neighbors to go for a walk, ride their bike, or take a drive to view all the lights.
