In a little more than two months, the city of Sandy Springs will host its annual Veterans Day Tribute.

The city’s annual ceremony will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 11, and the celebration will honor those who serve and have served our country.

The event will take place at the Veteran’s Memorial located at the Concourse Corporate Center next to the Queen Building (Building Five).

The program begins at 11:30 a.m. The keynote speaker will be Sandy Springs City Councilman John Paulson. Paulson served in combat in 1969 as a member of the First Battalion, Ninth Marine regiment (1/9) in the northern region of Vietnam; 1/9 sustained the highest casualty rate in Marine Corps history, known as “The Walking Dead.”

He was honorably discharged from active duty in 1970. Paulson uses his experiences to work with veteran service organizations, including the Phoenix Patriot Foundation and the American Legion, where he currently serves as the Post Service Officer for Post 140, providing assistance to veterans dealing with the Veterans Administration.
