Taboo Alcohol License Comes Before Sandy Springs Council
A request for an alcohol license from a controversial bar and night club will be considered by the council on Tuesday.

A request for the city to approve an alcohol license for a bar and night club that’s been the location of recent crime will come back before the Sandy Springs City Council on Tuesday.
The council will consider approving the license during its meeting, which starts at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Sandy Springs City Hall.
City leaders in September granted Taboo 3000 — known as Taboo 2 Bar & Bistro — a temporary, 60-day alcohol license in August to give City Attorney Wendell Willard time to track down missing information in the application that would indicate when the closing took place.

Taboo has been in the news in the last several months for less than flattering reasons.
Last month, a Brookhaven man was shot and killed behind the facility. Earlier this year, a woman was charged with attacking reality TV star Erica Pinkett, star of the VH1 show “Love and Hip Hop Atlanta,” inside the nightclub.

Sandy Springs leaders will also consider increasing its Municipal Court administrative fee collected per case from $70 to $75. The court currently collects $70 for each case disposed by conviction after trial, acceptance of a guilty plea, acceptance of nolo contendre or any bond forfeiture or voluntary payment of fine. City staff determined the cost to provide and run the court averages $78.72 per case, so the court is requesting the increase to help offset expenses.
City Manager John McDonough will give the council an update to the City Center Master Plan.
The council’s full agenda can be viewed online.
