Tupelo Honey Cafe To Increase Hourly Starting Wage

The company is also hiring employees for its new Sandy Springs location.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Tupelo Honey Cafe, which has plans to open in Sandy Springs, recently announced that it will increase its company-wide hourly starting wage from $10 to $11 per hour.

The new wage will be incorporated as part of the company’s total benefits package, which was launched earlier this year, and includes programs such as paid leave, paid volunteer hours, free or low cost health care options for full time employees, culinary tuition reimbursement and a commitment to maintaining hours for full-time team members.

“Cultivating an environment where team members are valued, respected, and inspired translates to our customers and supports our commitment to a positive guest experience,” said Caroline Skinner, vice president of human resources. “We are committed to paying and incentivizing our team members above the industry average in order to attract and retain the type of talent that propels our growth forward.”

The company’s decision will increase wages for nearly 20 percent of its workforce and ensure that newly-hired employees in all markets meet or exceed the company’s starting wage at $11 per hour, after the completion of their initial training period.

Tupelo Honey Cafe indicated that wage changes began last month in select markets and will be completed across the entire organization by the end of June.

“We are excited to include an increased starting wage to our comprehensive approach to team member benefits,” Skinner added. “In 2016 alone we will invest an additional $500,000 in wages and benefits to our existing team members.”

The increase in hourly wages come on the heels of Tupelo Honey Cafe announcing plans to open two locations in 2016: Sandy Springs and Denver, Colorado.

These two locations mean the business plans to hire an additional 350 employees.

The Sandy Springs location is currently accepting applications for employment on Tupelo Honey Cafe’s website and will be host an on-site job fair event later this month.

Walk-in applicants can apply in-person from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, May 23, through Friday, May 27. The restaurant is located at 4600 Roswell Road Building C, Sandy Springs, GA 30342.
