Driver Charged In Fatal Accident On I-285 In Sandy Springs

A woman driving a Nissan Altima was rear-ended by a Honda Accord, forcing her car to travel into the path of a tractor trailer.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- A 31-year-old woman died Tuesday evening in a multi-vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer along Interstate 285 in Sandy Springs. The collision was reported around 9 p.m. Sept. 26 on the eastbound side near the Riverside Drive interchange.

A preliminary report released by Sandy Springs police indicates a Honda Accord initially rear-ended a Nissan Altima that was traveling in the right lane. The tractor trailer hit the driver's side of the Nissan Altima, killing its driver, identified as April Solis. A fourth vehicle, a Dodge Challenger, also hit the tractor trailer after striking another vehicle.

Sandy Springs Police Traffic Unit investigators determined the driver of the Accord was at fault in the crash. That motorist, identified as 25-year-old Vlad Hriscan, was charged with vehicular homicide in the second degree and following too closely.
