- Savannah Police Violent Crimes detectives are currently investigating the fatal shooting of a 22-year-old man that occurred over the weekend. Around 3 a.m. on Sunday, officers on patrol near Congress and Whitaker streets heard gunfire and responded to the scene. There, they found Markieth Wright with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to contact CrimeStoppers. (Press Release Desk)
- One person was hospitalized after a rollover crash on Sunday night on the southbound lane of Truman Parkway near Whitefield Avenue. A portion of the road was shut down following the crash, and all lanes were reopened by Monday morning. Police believe speed was a factor in the crash and are currently investigating the incident. - The Savannah-Chatham County Public School System (SCCPSS) has just announced that its 2022 graduation ceremonies will be held at Enmarket Arena on May 23 through 26. Prior to 2020's virtual ceremonies and 2021's outdoor ceremonies at T.A. Wright Stadium, SCCPSS graduations had been held at the Savannah Civic Center. The school Board approved a $121,724 contract on Monday to rent Enmarket Arena for this year's ceremonies. (Savannah Patch)
