1 Soldier Killed In Helicopter Incident At Georgia Airfield
The soldier was from the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division. Wright Army Airfield is closed until further notice.
FORT STEWART, GA — A soldier was killed early Wednesday morning during an incident involving UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters at Wright Army Airfield, according to U.S. Army officials.
Wright Army Airfield is closed until further notice, officials said.
The incident occurred at around 2 a.m. at the airfield, located on Fort Stewart near Hinesville, about 30 miles southwest of Savannah. The soldier who was killed belonged to the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division.

The soldier's name has not yet been released, as officials are contacting next of kin. The incident is under investigation, according to authorities.
The UH-60 is the Army's utility tactical helicopter, according to the Army website, and is used to provide air assault, general support, aeromedical evacuation, command and control, and special operations support for combat, stability and support operations.
