- The newly-established Chatham County Cold Case Unit has already resolved a cold case from 1981. Officials say that defendant Earl Waggy pleaded guilty to the murder of court reporter Cam Menzies. Waggy had been indicted in 2017 after homicide detectives found new witnesses, re-interviewed witnesses, and got corroborating evidence from several sources.(WSAV-TV)
- NANT Renewables, a manufacturer of renewable biobased products, will soon be coming to Savannah. The company will invest up to $29 million to build a new bioplastics manufacturing plant at the SeaPoint Industrial Terminal Complex. The move is expected to create over 100 new jobs, with hiring beginning sometime in 2022. (WJCL News)
- Beloved Savannah artist Jason Statts, who was shot in Ardsley Park in 2008, has died. (WSAV-TV)
- On Friday morning, a commercial building fire in Richmond Hill burned completely through the roof of the building; no injuries were reported. (WTOC)
- Jay Melder, the new Savannah City Manager, is already working around the clock to support city residents. (WTOC)
