Here are the top stories in Savannah today:

  1. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society's Buddy Walk will be held virtually for the second year in a row. The 2021 Buddy Walk, which is celebrating its 16th year, will kick off at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, with virtual opening ceremonies. Participants of all ages will then walk in their own locations, be it locally, across the state or elsewhere. (WSAV-TV)
  2. More information has been released regarding the Richmond Hill High teacher and coach, Scott Strickland, who resigned after being accused of sexting with a student. The school's investigation report shows allegations made by a parent who claimed she saw screenshots of sexting between her 17-year-old daughter and Strickland. The report includes pages of e-mails between Strickland and the student, which includes an exchange alluding to the student asking for a better grade. (WJCL News)
  3. More than five years after the City of Savannah quit recycling glass, it may finally be returning. (WTOC)
  4. The City of Savannah has reported over 91,000 gallons of overflowed sewage due to record rainfall. (WJCL News)
  5. A Savannah man, Okemi Lawton, will face 7½ years in federal prison for dealing marijuana and cocaine. (WSAV-TV)
