Band Director Dies of Covid + Foxy Loxy Cafe Fire + SCAD

  1. A beloved Savannah Arts Academy band director has died of COVID-19. Federico Foster worked as the band teacher for five years, until this past summer when he transferred to become the Savannah Arts Academy band director. Support is being provided to the school community by the district counseling staff. (WTOC)
  2. The Chatham County Police Department will begin issuing tickets for violators caught by the speed cameras installed in school zones. Cameras were activated on Aug. 16 for a warning period designed to give the department time to work out any technical issues with the cameras, and to give motorists a chance to adjust to the new enforcement. The cameras are activated one hour before the start of school, remain active throughout the school day, and until one hour after the final school bell. (WSAV-TV)
  3. Savannah rapper Brandon "Pote Baby" Wilson hosted a three-day celebration for his community this past weekend. (Savannah Morning News)
  4. Savannah College of Art and Design students created an animated film that will premiere next week at the SCAD AnimationFest 2021. (WTOC)
  5. The Savannah Fire Department is investigating a trash fire that was intentionally started behind Foxy Loxy Cafe on Bull Street between W 35th and 36th streets this past Friday. (WSAV-TV)
