Here are the top three stories today in Savannah:
- Savannah CASA, under the new name Brightside Child & Family Advocacy, is evolving to serve even more Chatham County families and children in crisis. This Valentine's Day, CASA opened The Bright House, a new visitation and family support center in Savannah. The center provides a warm, home-like environment for parents to participate in supervised visitation with their children. (savannahceo.com)
- Fans of country singer Keith Urban rallied together for a sweet cause this Valentine's Day. Members of the club, known as Monkeyville, sent in thousands of stuffed monkeys to send to hospitalized children during their 15th annual Monkey Drive. Nearly 400 of these plush primates made their way to patients and providers at the Dwaine and Cynthia Willett Children's Hospital of Savannah. (Savannah Morning News)
- A blind child actor from Savannah is breaking barriers in his film "American Underdog." Though the movie is ostensibly about football, it also focuses on the relationship between Kurt Warner (Zachary Levi) and his son Zach, who is blind and intellectually disabled. When directors put out a casting call, they discovered Savannah's own Hayden Zaller, who is visually impaired. (Savannah Morning News)
