The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Savannah.

(Patch Media)

Rise and shine, Savannah! Let's get this day started. Here's everything going on in town today.

First, today's weather:

Mostly sunny and warm. High: 77 Low: 57.

Here are the top 4 stories in Savannah today:

  1. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg is scheduled to tour the Port of Savannah on Friday and "see firsthand the recent actions to address supply chain disruptions," according to his office. Buttigieg is also expected to discuss the $17 billion included in the $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill for ports and waterways. (WSAV-TV)
  2. A Savannah ninth-grader is warming hearts and toes this holiday season with her generous donation of 500 socks to homeless shelters. A class community service assignment prompted Cavalry Day School student Graysen Asterman to start the collection a few months ago via an Amazon wishlist. She added handwritten notes with messages of encouragement to help support people who are going through hard times this holiday season. (fox28media.com)
  3. Police are investigating a string of sidewalk chalk vandalisms in Savannah's Spring Lake neighborhood that include swastikas and slurs. A police report indicates one of the victims believes people in that neighborhood may have been targeted because of their race or nationality. Savannah Police says the department is taking these incidents seriously and assigning a detective to check on the reported vandalism cases. (WTOC)
  4. Looking for a new home? These four open houses that were recently listed in the Savannah area are worth a look. (Savannah Patch)
