🌱 Chatham Unemployment Down + Woman Found Dead In Car At Candler

Hey Savannah: As you may know, Amazon Web Services experienced an outage on Tuesday that affected the Savannah Daily. Here are the top stories today in Savannah:
- Unemployment in the Savannah area has dropped significantly over the last year, with the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics data showing a nearly four-point drop from October 2020 to October 2021. The Chatham County unemployment rate was 2.5 percent in October 2021, down from 2.7 percent in September. By comparison, the county's unemployment rate was 6.2 percent during the same time last year. Chatham County's numbers are also well below the national unemployment rate of 4.2 percent as of November. (Savannah Patch)
- Savannah Police are investigating the death of a woman who was found at Candler Hospital Wednesday evening. A deceased adult woman was discovered in her car in the parking lot near the hospital's Heart and Lung Center. Police say the death does not appear suspicious, but officers asked residents to avoid that area as they investigated. (WTOC)
- Savannah law firm Oliver Maner has rallied with the community to collect donations of household products and other necessities to be given to the new Parker's House, a home for local women experiencing homelessness. (WJCL News)
- A 19th-century downtown Savannah church tied to the civil rights movement was torn down on Wednesday just outside of the Historic District. Locals say they're upset that this building won't be around to teach future generations. (WTOC)
- The Eichholz Law Firm and Savannah businesses are teaming up to make the holidays brighter for local children in need by collecting holiday gifts for the Coastal Children's Advocacy Center. (WSAV-TV)
