Here are the top three stories today in Savannah:
- The Savannah Police Department has arrested Lamont Antonio Walters Senior, 46, on numerous drug-related charges. The arrest was made during an investigation by the department's Strategic Investigations Unit on a tip they received. The department seized 1/4 kilogram of cocaine, 16 grams of crack, and over 15 pounds of marijuana during the arrest. (fox28media.com)
- A boat crew member was rescued off the Savannah coast by the Coast Guard. The 41-year-old crew member was on the Basle Express when the boat's captain requested a medevac. The man was eventually transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center for treatment. (WJCL News Savannah)
- A Chatham County Police Department Sergeant has died after a battle with brain cancer. Sgt. Jacob Gililland, 29, passed away on Thursday. Gililland served in the United States Army before joining the department in 2019. He leaves behind a young daughter and a wife. (WJCL News Savannah)
