Here are the top three stories today in Savannah:

  1. The Gary Sinise Foundation is building retired U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Ryan Davis and his family a specially adapted smart home close by in Richmond Hill. The home will be specifically designed to help with some of the daily mobility challenges Davis faces due to his injuries from when he served in Afghanistan. The foundation held a Wall of Honor ceremony on Tuesday, where Davis' friends and supporters had the opportunity to write personal messages for him on the walls of his new home. (WJCL)
  2. The eighth annual Raising Hope fundraiser is confirmed to take place on Tuesday, Jun. 6 at the Savannah Convention Center. The event will be co-sponsored by Oliver Maner LLP and feature a cocktail reception with Jeremy Davis and the Equinox Jazz Trio, in addition to a silent auction filled with domestic and international travel essentials provided by AmFund. This year's keynote speaker will be David Ambroz, the best-selling author of "A Place Called Home" and Emmy Award nominee. (Savannah Tribune)
  3. On Wednesday, May 24, America's Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia is hosting a topping-out ceremony at their new location on Chatham Parkway. The ceremony will welcome sponsors and contractors to sign a beam that's meant to celebrate the organization's progress thus far. According to Executive Director Mary Jane Crouch, the organization hopes that this new location will be more accessible to the community and accommodating when it comes to providing more meals for growing families.
