Here are the top three stories today in Savannah:

  1. The Kiah House Museum's historic marker was unveiled in West Savannah on Monday. After the home was almost blacklisted after being vacant for so long, the Historic Savannah Foundation purchased it and placed the marker to share the story of its founding. The museum was one of the first integrated museums of the Jim Crow Era. (Savannah Morning News)
  2. Five people were left displaced after a fire broke out on Cowan Avenue just before 7:00 a.m. yesterday. Everybody living inside evacuated safely; however, the fire spread quickly and caused the roof to collapse. The house is considered a total loss. (WTOC)
  3. A domestic shooting in Savannah has left one woman dead. 57-year-old Vernita Johnson was killed by family member Jeffery Johnson, 59, on Sunday morning after a dispute. Police arrived on the scene to find the victim was fatally shot. (WJCL News Savannah)
