Here are the top three stories today in Savannah:
- The Historic Savannah Foundation will be hosting its annual Historic Preservation Awards on May 5 at the Charles H. Morris Center. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. at 10 E. Broad St. Attendees will enjoy a fun celebratory evening with friends while recognizing preservation efforts in our community. (Savannah CEO)
- The Savannah Police Department provided backup during a Garden City standoff that lasted for hours. The incident occurred near Dean Forest Road in Garden City after an individual tried to gain entry into a work vehicle. The situation was eventually de-escalated and the man has been taken to a local hospital for observation. (WTOC.com)
- The 18th annual Poker Run will be riding through Chatham County this Sunday. The event involves motorcyclists from around the state raising money for the Georgia Sheriff's Youth Homes. The Poker Run is from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. starting at the Sheriff's Office on Carl Griffin Drive. (WTOC.com)
