Here are the top three stories today in Savannah:

  1. The City of Savannah's Board of Public Education held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday to mark the completion of the New Hampstead K-8 School. The school can accommodate 1,500 students and connects to New Hampstead High School. The school's construction budget was $42.5 million and funded through ESPLOST. (fox28media.com)
  2. Savannah-area leaders are speaking out about the positive impact the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the Inflation Reduction Act have had on the Savannah community. Leaders stated the funding allowed the county to start climate change mitigation efforts. There was also funding to incentivize the implementation of sustainable energy sources. The two laws are set to add new jobs to the area. (fox28media.com)
  3. Savannah's newest homeless women's shelter, Parker's Home, is set to open on Tuesday. The shelter will assist over 180 women experiencing homelessness in Chatham County. Guests will get a mental health assessment, food, clothing, transportation, and most importantly - a bed. The shelter can house 100 individuals. (WJCL News Savannah)
