Here are the top three stories today in Savannah:

  1. On Wednesday, community members gathered downtown to honor veterans during the Sgt. William Jasper Green Ceremony. The tradition was established to honor Revolutionary War veteran Sgt. Green but has since become a celebration of all veterans. Decorated Savannah veterans were recognized for their service throughout the event; the day concluded with a prayer and blessing of a wreath laid upon Sgt. Jasper's statue. (fox28media.com)
  2. The Savannah Music Festival, currently Georgia's largest musical arts event, is entering its 33rd year. From Mar. 24 through Apr. 9, attendees can enjoy performances at multiple venues across downtown Savannah. This year's lineup includes Dee Dee Bridgewater, the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, and Christian McBride, among others. (South Magazine)
  3. After a fatal shooting on Feb. 23 and disputes regarding EMS response time in the incident, the City of Savannah and Chatham County are discussing ambulance response times. According to emails obtained by WJCL, city and county leaders are working to determine if a problem exists — and if so, what the solutions might be. Email transcripts are available in the full story.
