Here are the top three stories in Savannah today:
- WSAV reports that a low-key gun buyback program is currently underway in Savannah. According to Mayor Van Johnson, since city governments cannot host such efforts under state law, the initiative is led by trusted community partners. The names of these partners have not been announced, so as to protect the privacy of the program and promote its success. (WSAV-TV)
- After a two-year hiatus, Savannah St. Patrick's Day 2022 parade will finally return on Thursday, Mar. 17. The parade will kick off at 10:15 a.m., starting at the corner of Gwinnett and Abercorn Streets and ending at the intersection of Harris Street. - Savannah police are investigating the city's sixth shooting in just five days. Late Thursday night, officers responded to the 1100 block of Bolton Street, where they found one man shot with non-life-threatening injuries.
