Here are the top three stories in Savannah today:

  1. The Chatham County Police Department is currently investigating a murder-suicide case on Quacco Trail. Officers received information about a homicide in a Quacco Trail home and learned the suspect later died by suicide at another location. The victim and suspect knew each other, according to police. (WTOC)
  2. Plans are underway for a new residential and commercial development across from the Enmarket Arena. As per the Metropolitan Planning Commission's Mar. 22 agenda, Spandrel Development Partners already has an approved master plan on file for urban-style apartments with commercial uses. The City of Savannah's scheduled improvements to the Springfield Canal will be incorporated into the existing master plan. (WTOC)
  3. The Senate recently passed a bill to make daylight savings time a year-round occurrence — and if approved by the House of Representatives, would permanently change all time zones ahead by one hour. Should the bill pass, Savannah would see major changes in its sunrise times in the fall and winter, and the sun would never set before 6:00 p.m. The latest sunrise would be at 8:25 a.m. in early January, while the earliest sunset would be 6:19 p.m. in early December.
