Here are the top stories today in Savannah:
- After five years, a reopening is in the making for the city of Savannah. On Monday morning, the Police Memorial Trail reopened as bicycles were used to officially cut the ribbon. The biking and walking trail has been closed since being damaged by Hurricane Matthew in 2016. The trail is located at Kerry Street and Dixie Avenue and is part of the grander "Tide to Town" urban trail system for the city. (WJCL News)
- A woman was shot Monday morning at a corner store in what Savannah police believe was an armed robbery. The Savannah Police Department says a man approached the woman while she was locking up The Lottery Store on Montgomery Street around 12:30 a.m. Police say the man demanded she open the door and when she refused to, he shot several times striking the woman's arm. - In partnership with the Georgia Chamber, the Georgia Justice Project is hosting a virtual conversation to take an in-depth look at Second Chance Hiring at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, December 3. (Press Release Desk )
- The Economic Opportunity Authority (EOA) will open up phone lines Wednesday to schedule appointments for this year's heating assistance program. (WSAV-TV)
