Here are the top stories today in Savannah:
- A Savannah surgeon has been arrested following a month-long child sex sting investigation in which sexually explicit messages were exchanged with law enforcement officers posing as minors. The sting operation was targeting adults looking online for sexual activity from children. Mark Anthony Winchell was arrested last week in Chatham County on charges filed by the Lexington County Sheriff's Office in South Carolina. (WJCL News)
- A teen shooting victim is fighting for his life while his family fights for justice. 19-year-old Terrell Munson was shot on the 800 block of East 36th Street, between Paulsen and Harmon St. on July 19th and left with serious injuries that resulted in a surgery to remove one of his eyes and part of his skull. His family is asking for help as they plan to move halfway across the country to get him the help he needs. (WTOC)
- The Susan G. Komen Coastal Georgia office in Savannah is closing as a result of the organization moving from an affiliate structure to one entity. (WTOC)
- The Rock 'n' Roll Savannah Marathon is set to take place Nov. 6 and 7, bringing 15,000 runners and 7,000 additional visitors to Savannah, however the event still hinges on COVID-19 numbers. (WSAV-TV)
- Clearview Apartments residents have been given a 60-day notice to move out of their homes, though affordable options are few and far between. (Savannah Morning News)
