Here are the top 3 stories in Savannah today:
- Sunday was the first day of Kwanzaa and the City of Savannah is continuing an annual tradition – Kwanzaa Krawl. To highlight the foundation of the city's culture, organizers Dr. Amir Jamal Toure and Alderwoman Kesha Gibson-Carter are featuring a Black restaurant every day this coming week. To keep the event as safe as possible, participants can register for a rapid COVID test before going into each restaurant. (WTOC)
- A bicyclist is recovering from serious injuries after being struck by a car on Wheaton Street Thursday night. The area was shut down from Stirling Street to Harmon Street while officers investigated. The victim was treated for their injuries at a nearby hospital. (WJCL News Savannah)
- Animal enclosures at the Oatland Island Wildlife Center have a little more holiday flair than usual, thanks to some Savannah-Chatham County Public School students. Kids from all grade levels created displays that highlight holiday traditions from around the world, while also giving animals something to do. The idea came from an intern of the wildlife center, who's also a Jenkins High School student. (WTOC)
