SAVANNAH, GA (September 13, 2021) – Savannah Police made a swift arrest in the shooting death of a male Sept. 12.
Shortly before 4 p.m., officers responded to the 5500 block of Abercorn Street due to reports of a shooting. Once on scene, they located an adult male with a life-threatening gunshot wound. He later died as a result of those injuries.

Officers received information about the suspect, who was later identified as 27-year-old Martez Pinkney. They located Pinkney in the vicinity of the crime scene and took him into custody without incident. He was charged with murder and transported to the Chatham County Detention Center.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification to his next of kin.
