Here are the top three stories today in Savannah:

  1. As the healthcare industry works to fill ongoing shortages, Savannah Tech is offering an accelerated course to get nursing aides in the workforce sooner. The accelerated program fits the two-semester program into an under-eight-week intensive, with classes scheduled twice a week for eight hours a day. Though the newest semester kicked off yesterday, Savannah Tech reports it is still accepting applications for the program. (WTOC)
  2. Two new residents have joined Cougar Crossing at the Oatland Island Wildlife Center! A pair of cougar cubs, originally found in a backyard in Washington State, traveled to the Memphis Zoo before relocating to their new Savannah home. The center celebrated the arrival of the yet-unnamed six-month-olds on Sunday; they'll receive their names in a special fundraiser by the Friends of Oatland Island. (WTOC)
