Here are the top 3 stories today in Savannah:
- The Savannah Traffick Jam event is raising awareness about human trafficking on Friday and Saturday. The Savannah Interagency Diversity Council is asking community members to help with the issue of human trafficking, and throughout the two-day conference, there will be experts and survivors to educate attendees. There will also be specific training for law enforcement, social workers, mental health professionals, and educators working with human trafficking victims. (WTOC)
- The Savannah High Athletic Complex is near completion, but it won't be done until the weather gets warmer. Because of the materials left to put in the complex, crews will need to wait until there are consistent temperatures above 50 degrees. SCCPSS athletic director John Sanders said that as soon as they get the track surface down, they'll be good to go. (WSAV-TV)
- City council approved alcohol sales for the new Enmarket Arena on Sunday. The arena will open on Feb. 5, with a ribbon-cutting event beginning at 1 p.m. and a community day event inside from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The arena is located at 620 Stiles Avenue. (WSAV-TV)
