Here are the top three stories today in Savannah:
- The Savannah College of Art and Design is presenting its production of the Broadway musical 'All Shook Up' this weekend. The play features Elvis Presley hits with the theme of the show being appreciation, understanding, and acceptance of everyone. It will mark the largest cast of a show at SCAD to date and a Savannah native will hold the lead female role of Natalie. (WTOC)
- Savannahians are excited to make St. Patrick's Day parade plans for the first time since 2019. The 4-hour march through three miles of Savannah's Historic District will begin at 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, Mar. 17 - St. Paddy's Day! Parade regulars spoke to Savannah Morning News about what they are most looking forward to in the parade's return. "Getting back out there with friends and family. I'm especially excited about my kids, both under age 2, getting to experience their first St. Patrick's Day," said one reader, Jonathan Williams. (Savannah Morning News)
- The nearly $1 billion Savannah harbor expansion project is complete. On Mar. 8, crews finished deepening the Savannah Harbor and its associated shipping channel. This project has been a 23-year effort to deepen the Savannah River from an authorized depth of 42 feet to 47 feet and extend it seven miles further into the Atlantic. As the third busiest port in the United States, the Port of Savannah has been the fastest-growing port in the nation for the past 10 years. (fox28media.com)
