🌱 SFD Rescues Deer From Soccer Net + 'Halloween' Casting Locals
The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Savannah.

Happy Tuesday, Savannah! Here's everything you need to know about what's happening around town today.
First, today's weather:
Cloudy with a little rain. High: 57 Low: 40.
Here are the top three stories in Savannah today:
- While people often associate firefighters with rescuing cats from trees, they might not commonly think of a deer caught in a soccer net. But that's exactly what happened on Sunday when the Savannah Fire Department responded to a call at a soccer complex for a stuck deer. Firefighters carefully cut the tightly-wrapped netting from the deer's antlers and neck, after which the deer "wobbled, then slowly trotted away." (WSAV-TV)
- If you've ever wanted to be in a horror film, now's your chance: The last installment of the "Halloween" franchise, filming in coastal Georgia, is looking for local extras. The casting calls are seeking real families to portray themselves, townspeople, trick-or-treaters, and more. An in-person casting call is taking place tomorrow afternoon at Halo Model & Talent Agency, with another happening Sunday at Sugar Magnolia Bakery & Cafe. (WJCL News Savannah)
- On Sunday, the Historic Savannah Foundation hosted its first "Songs and Stories on the Square." The event, held in partnership with the Savannah VOICE Festival, shared the history of Savannah alongside musical performances that fit the theme of those lectures (fox28media.com)
From our sponsor:
Last week, we told you about our new favorite non-alcoholic go-to — the refreshingly bitter drinks from our partners at Betera. They're chef-created from natural botanicals, lightly effervescent and worthy of life beyond "Dry January." We mentioned that their Ginger-Orange was excellent; we've since tried Elderflower-Lime and loved it as well — light and floral with the perfect amount of zing. We're converts.
Enough of you took Betera up on their 15% discount on first orders for Patch Daily readers that they've extended the offer for another week. Use PATCH15 at checkout. Highly recommended — try Betera here.
