Here are the top three stories today in Savannah:

  1. Hundreds of Savannah high school students staged a walkout in support of Roe v. Wade. The students displayed posters with messages of support as they walked out. The incident was organized by a group of 11th-grade students at Savannah Arts Academy. The students felt the protest was necessary after recent efforts to overturn the landmark Supreme Court decision. (WSAV-TV)
  2. Savannah Fire Arson Investigators are working to identify a person captured on surveillance footage during the 36th Street house fire on Wednesday. The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. in the 2000 block of the street after smoke was found billowing from the house. The investigators have released photos of the suspect and are asking the community to come forward with any relevant information. (WJCL News Savannah)
  3. The Savannah Police Department has made an arrest in the fatal stabbing that occurred on West 36th Street. James Walter Miller, 51-years-old, died at a local hospital from wounds sustained during the incident. Authorities have arrested Kenneth Paul Mayes Junior, 40-years-old, and have charged him with murder. (WJCL News Savannah)
