Here are the top 4 stories in Savannah today:
- The number of employed Georgians has reached a record high, but many industries are still facing major staffing shortages that impact essential operations. In Savannah, several groups, including the Opportunity Center at Goodwill, are hoping to close the gaps in the hospitality industry with local career fairs. (WTOC)
- The holiday season may be considered the most wonderful time of the year, but it's also a time of increased fire risk. According to the Savannah Fire Department, many of these fires are completely preventable, especially those involving space heaters and overloaded extension cords. To help, the Department shared its top fire safety tips for local residents to follow throughout the holidays. (fox28media.com)
- The former pastor of a recently-demolished historic Savannah church said he was "shocked" that the East Broad Street building came down last week. Pastor Eric Jackson led Faith on the Move Ministries for nearly 20 years and didn't expect it to be torn down because of its historical significance. Old papers found in the church indicated civil rights icons like Andrew Young and Martin Luther King, Jr. had visited the sanctuary in 1967. (WTOC)
