5 Cobb School Buildings To Be Phased Out, Replaced

An elementary school in Smyrna and gym in Marietta are among buildings included in the plan, passed by Cobb's Board of Education.

MARIETTA, GA β€” Five Cobb County Schools buildings, including three schools, will be phased out so new buildings can replace them. The county's Board of Education voted last week on the plan.

In most cases, the aging school buildings will be replaced with new construction funded with money from the county's one-percent local-option sales tax for schools. The buildings that will be phased out are:

  • Harmony Leland and Clay Elementary schools in Mableton. They'll be replaced with a new, combined school.
  • King Springs Elementary in Smyrna. It will be replaced with a new school.
  • The auxiliary gym at Lassiter High School in Marietta. It will be replaced with a new, competition-quality gym.
  • Part of the auxiliary gym and Career, Technical and Agricultural Education building at Pebblebrook High School in Mableton. A new gym, theater and classrooms will be built.
