A Look at the Week Ahead

Smyrna-Vinings Patch rounds up some of this week's public meetings.

Here’s a look at the week ahead in Smyrna-Vinings. Smyrna City Council meets Monday at 7:30 p.m. This week’s agenda is a light one even without the withdrawal of a proposed amendment to the city’s zoning ordinance regarding the outdoor retail sale of large products. This item has been tabled every month since October 2011 and will be formally withdrawn at Monday’s meeting.

Other agenda items include the addition of a filming ordinance to Smyrna’s city code and the reappointment of Ward 7 parks and recreation commission representatives. Council will also vote whether to approve an application filed by AboveNet Communications Inc., a company that provides fiber optic cable used for telecommunication services. Smyrna City Clerk Susan Hiott said approval of the application is a formality before it is forwarded on to the Georgia Municipal Association.  

The following day Council Representative Melleny Pritchett will hold a roundtable for Ward 1 business owners to discuss economic incentives, code issues and sign ordinances. The meeting begins at 7:30 a.m. at Fire Station No. 3 on Spring Road.

, Alec Fraser, former president of Turner Properties will discuss the Atlanta Transportation Referendum. This week’s meeting is scheduled for noon at the Taylor Brawner House. Gen. Joe Redden will discuss leadership at the Vinings Rotary Club meeting Wednesday at noon at .

Cobb County Chairman Tim Lee will hold a town hall meeting Wednesday, March 21 at 7 p.m. at the . Wednesday’s meeting will be the first of three town halls he will hold this spring.
