Alzheimer's 2019 Georgia Funding Request

Critical need for Alzheimer's patients and their families

Alzheimer's Association 2019 Georgia Funding Request
During the upcoming legislative session, we will be asking the Georgia General Assembly to provide specific dollars for these key areas.

  • $350,000 for a State-Wide Public Awareness Campaign on Alzheimer's and Other Dementias--to include risk factors, warning signs, and the need for an early, accurate diagnosis. Requesting that funding be placed in the Georgia Department of Public Health's budget, since Alzheimer's is a public health crisis, and Public Health is expert on doing these types of campaigns.
  • $938,656--Funding for four new GBI At-Risk Adult Special Agents to combat financial abuse--in 4 key GBI districts where the number of cases warrant the need--Regions 1, 2, 8, and 10. Each position will require a budget of $234,664--including Personal Services, Operating Expenses, Equipment and Vehicles, and Training Cost for Agents. In 2016, there were 48 cases; in 2017--69 cases; in 2018--87 cases.
  • Supporting the Georgia Council on Aging request for $10 million for non-Medicaid Home and Community Based Services--to provide support services to keep individuals in their home longer prior to nursing home

Join me in asking your members of the Georgia Assembly to support these funding request in the FY 2019 Georgia Budget. I urge Sen Jen Jordan and Rep. Michael Smith to continue their Support of these goals.
