Armed Walgreens Robberies Back To Back In Smyrna: Police

In back-to-back armed drugstore robberies in Smyrna, one suspect is said to have been using a machete style knife during the incidents.

SMYRNA, GA — Several drug store armed robberies have been occurring in the Smyrna area and the Cobb County Police Department Crimes Against Persons Unit and the Smyrna Police Department have been investigating, according to a news release.

Cobb County Police sent three officers to respond to an armed robbery at 9:13 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 12 at a Walgreens Pharmacy, located at 4371 South Cobb Drive. The suspects were described as an older white male with a beard and an older black male with a beard.

According to the release, the two male suspects approached the front counter and the white male suspect showed a machete style knife. He then proceeded to walk behind the counter, demanding cash from the drawer. The black male suspect took the cash drawer and the two suspects fled the store. Police say that no one was injured during the incident.

A second armed robbery happened Wednesday, Nov. 13. Three Cobb County Police Precinct officers were called to the Walgreens Pharmacy located at 5000 Floyd Road to respond to an armed robbery around 2 p.m. It occured in a similar manner as the one from the previous day, with the exact same suspect descriptions. No items or money were taken and no injuries occurred.

During this time, the Smyrna Police Department began investigating an armed robbery at a drugstore that matched the suspect information and machete style knife as described in the first two armed robberies.

Investigators have identified the suspects as 62-year-old Timothy Soulsby of Mableton and 63-year-old Vincent McClure of Atlanta. Cobb County Police Department obtained arrest warrants and charged Soulsby with Armed Robbery and two counts of Aggravated Assault. McClure was charged with Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault. Additional warrants were taken by Smyrna Police Department.

On Thursday, Nov. 14, Soulsby and McClure were located by the Atlanta Police Department at a traffic stop. APD and Cobb County officers were conducting the stop when both suspects were taken into custody without incident. They are currently being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
