Alzheimer's is a National Health Crisis

Ask Your Candidates to Support Alzheimer's Legislation

The election season is upon us and we turn our thoughts to the issues facing our community and families. There is no better time to consider the health crisis of Alzheimer's. This issue is truly bipartisan as the disease has no party preferences and affects each constituent with equal devastation. I believe the better informed we are the better choices we can make for ourselves and our families.

Today there are 37.8 million American voters who have provided care for Alzheimer's and dementia patients, with a new Alzheimer's diagnosis every 65 seconds. Based on current spending, Medicare spends 1 out of every 5 dollars caring for someone with Alzheimer's. This cost taxpayers $21 million every hour! The personal cost to families drains their finances and wipes out retirement savings, truly devastating.

I urge you to ask your candidate, if elected,

What will you do to increase the nation's investment in Alzheimer's research through the National Institute of Health?
What will you do to address this national health crisis?
What will do to insure our State Alzheimer's Plan is effectively implemented?
Join me in asking candidates to support these critical priorities. I thank my representative, Congressman David Scott,Georgia District 13, for his Cosponsorship of the BOLD Act, PCHETA, and ongoing funding for Alzheimer's Research through the National Institute of Health.
