WSB-TV reports that Dr. William Dablah was first diagnosed with aggressive metastatic lymphoma in September and has been receiving specialist treatment in New York ever since, but his only chance of survival is a bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately, no suitable donors have been located so far in the national database.
DaBlah’s family and colleagues are reaching out to the African-American community, which is not as well represented in the bone marrow database, to get tested to see if they match Dablah, WSB-TV reports. The doctor’s Haitian mother and Ghanian father make it almost certain that Dabah’s donor marrow will have to cone from a person of African descent.

Potential donors interested in learning if they are a match to Dablah are encouraged to send away for a testing kit from Be The Match. You will not be contacted to donate marrow until you are matched with someone in need of a donation, and the marrow donation process is a simple inpatient procedure performed under anesthesia with an anticipated full recovery time of roughly three weeks.
