Belmont Groundbreaking is Aug. 28
The site of the former Belmont Hills Shopping Center will soon contain restaurants, retail, apartments, and single-family dwellings.

The long-awaited Belmont project at the intersection of Atlanta and WIndy Hill Roads in Smyrna will break ground later this week, The Atlanta Business Chronicle reports.
On Thursday, Aug. 28, work will officially commence on the 48 acre project which will contain restaurants, shopping, single-family homes, and apartments.
The former Belmont Hills Shopping Center was demolished to make room for an ambitious development which included 300 condos, 100,000 sq. ft. of office space, and 100 townhomes, but the economic recession shelved these plans. Now that the economy is getting back on its feet, developers have decided on a new tack.
