Amazing What a Year Can Do

I find that I cope with the help of music. Lately, A Little Big Stronger by Sarah Evans and Adele's Someone Like You have really touched me. We haven't been in a serious relationship for a year, but it was this time last year when a song such as Taylor Swift's Mine was what I was singing loud and proud with a smile from ear to ear.

Think about your life exactly one year ago. For some of you, it is amazing how much things have changed, whether for the good or the bad. Twelve months ago I was an online dating success story, living my dream!

If you've been following my posts, you know that only once, thus far, has online dating led to a committed relationship for me. And, those who follow me on twitter (@SingleMissRight) know how much “Heartbreaker,” as I like to call him, is still in my every day thoughts.

He has been on my mind so much lately because the fall scents of pumpkin, haunted houses, football, all remind me of him. We were together, doing those things last year. Now, it seems like every where I turn there is something else causing me to think about what was...such as the “Paranormal Activity 3’’ commercial that just came on television; he introduced me to the first two.

He got the nickname Heartbreaker because for me, everything was perfect in our relationship. His breaking it off came out of the blue. From day one of emailing and getting to know one another on the dating site we seemed to be on the same page with what we wanted. Therefore, I literally went into the relationship with everything on the table and the expectation to never have to return to online dating again.

This post doesn't contain advice, or suggestions, just simply sharing a story. I am sure that those who have been following along have been curious. I appreciate you all, and your kind words letting me know that you have decided to take the first steps in your own online dating journey! But this story I have of heartbreak also reassures me that online dating can work!
