SOHO Definitely NOT “so-so”: A Vinings Favorite for Date Night!

Who doesn't love an edgy American Bistro with a fun atmosphere and great service? Definitely a restaurant with a high "snuggle factor". Weigh in on your experience!

It was Victor’s week to research and select a place for date night, but he said he had experienced a heck of a day and asked me to do the honors.  So, I decided to go with one of my old faves, SOHO in Vinings Jubilee.  SOHO is an American bistro with a great atmosphere. I also love to go to SOHO for business lunches because you can get really tasty food very fast and it’s near our home.

Packed to the brim at 8p.m., there were no open seats at the bar.  Since Vic was running a bit late, the hostess was gracious to go ahead and seat me.

I can honestly say that I haven’t ever had a bad meal at SOHO.  Dinner was scrumptious.  We started with the special of 6 raw oysters, which were so yummy that we ordered another 6. They have a special tangy sauce that really made all the difference.  For main courses, Victor had the NY strip (cooked to perfection and I had the crab cake appetizer as an entrée.  I admit that I am a crab cake snob and I love SOHO’s crab cakes because they are 90% meat and seasoned just right.  We topped off the evening with me enjoying a nice Malbec and Vic sipping on his favorite, Hennessey & Coke. We didn’t have desert, but ordered a cheesecake to go for our daughter.

Had a wonderful waitress who combined wit with great service.  Bathrooms were clean and neat – always a good sign!  Noise level was a bit high due to it being packed, but we could hear each other fine and it did not distract from
the conversation. The only “negative” was that we were sitting next to a very loud couple who were on a Girl’s Night Out and who may have had 1 drink too many. But oh well, seemed like they really needed a break from their hubbies and kids.

WOW Factor:
The “wow” factor we experienced this week was the oysters.  I’m not a fan of raw oysters, but Vic convinced me to try them and they were heavenly.  Sometimes you just have to try things or you miss out on something great!
