Spring Hill Pkwy rezoning, next to previously denied Walton
After the high-profile re-zoning case and denial along Spring Hill Pkwy in 2012 for Walton Properties, let's see what new things are happening in the lot right next door.

Well, I'm a Smyrna resident, but this is actually closer to me than some parts of Smyrna so I took notice and looked it up. Before you get excited this doesn't include anything for the Walton property right next door that was rejected in 2012, which leaves us hanging about what's going to happen with the rezoning that was rejected.
But for this one, which is Cotter Properties & Development, LLC; Zoning Z-24; District 17, Lots 813, Parcels 7,9,10,11,12,18,19. The hearing date is 6/4 and BOC date is 6/18. The request is for a change from R-30 to R-5 and a slight reduction in lot size from 7,000 sq feet to 6,000 sq ft and width from 70 feet to 60 feet. Based on http://zoning.comdev.cobbcountyga.gov/2013-06/preliminary_zoning_analysis/06_2013_Preliminary_Zoning%20_Analysis.pdf, the plan is for what looks like fifty (if I counted right) $400k-$700k homes.

This looks much more appropriate for the area than the previous Walton plan, but it's on different lots so the jury's still out on what will happen on the Walton lots. Are they going to come back after lopping off a couple floors and tweaking the design? If you know anything about what's going on with the Walton property, let us know.
