Campbell Sophomores Take PSAT Soon

The PSAT allows students to get a feel for what the SAT testing experience will be like.

Sophomores at Campbell High School will need to sharpen some number two pencils and practice their cursive for the next week or so.

That's because the PSAT (Preliminary SAT) will be coming to the Smyrna high school on Wednesday, Oct. 16 during first and second period.

Although the test is mandatory for sophomores, freshmen and juniors can participate if they pay $15 to Ms. Adams in her 900 hall office.

In order to ensure that students have the best possible chance of excelling on the PSAT, Campbell High School asks that students:

  • Practice their cursive, as students will be required to write a statement in this script.
  • Get a good night's sleep before the test and eat a hearty breakfast the morning of Oct. 16.
  • Arrive to school on time, with two number two pencils and a calculator in tow.
Although this test has no bearing on college admissions, it is an excellent barometer for learning what taking the actual SAT will feel like. Additionally, African-American students who do exceptionally well on their PSAT are eligible to enter the National Merit Scholarship Program.
