Here are the top three stories today in Smyrna-Vinings:

  1. Cobb & Douglas Public Health (CDPH) has announced it will begin administering the Moderna vaccine to children between the ages of six months and five years. CDPH also hopes to begin offering Pfizer vaccines to the county's youngest residents within the next few days. The shots will be available at the Marietta location (1650 County Services Parkway) and the Douglas County location (6770 Selman Drive). (Cobb County Courier)
  2. Cobb County School District's first annual "Camp with the Champs" was a touchdown! Ryland Goede, a Kennesaw Mountain grad and current Georgia Bulldog, launched the camp to give back to his alma mater and its potential future football stars.   3. Walmart, Target, and other retailers across Georgia have recalled a batch of Freshpet dog food due to potential salmonella contamination. The voluntary recall affects a single lot of Freshpet Select Fresh from the Kitchen Home Cooked Chicken Recipe — specifically the 4.5-pound bag with a sell-by date of Oct. 29, 2022. Georgia pet owners are asked to monitor their pets for symptoms of salmonella and contact their veterinarian with any concerns. (Georgia Patch)
