City Council Looks to Approve Dobbins Joint Land Use Study

The Smyrna City Council will look to approve a joint land use study for Dobbins Air Reserve Base and its surroundings during their Monday evening meeting.

According to an official document, the study will include a “[s]et of recommendations to mitigate or prevent incompatible development associated with the military mission” of the base, and will give local decision-makers more information with which to work with.
Once adopted by all parties concerned, the study will take approximately eight months to complete. The Cobb County Board of Commissioners has approved the study, with the cities of Smyrna and Marietta expected to follow suit.

Other tasks on the agenda include alcohol permits for three Smyrna businesses, re-appointment of members to the Downtown Development Authority, and awarding contracts for replacing pool sand filters, a fire suppression system, and carpet replacement.
