Cobb Commission To Vote On Atlanta Braves Fee Dispute

The Braves and Cobb County are in a dispute over hundreds of thousands of dollars in fees.

MARIETTA, Ga. -- Cobb County Commissioners will consider a proposed agreement between the county and the Atlanta Braves that will resolve an ongoing dispute over fees. The meeting is set for 9 am on Tuesday during the commission's regular meeting. The dispute had been headed to mediation.

According to Cobb County, the Braves have agreed to pay the county for a “system development fee” regarding water and sewage capacity at the stadium. They will also pay $380,000 for a signage and maintenance contract in association with the I-285 Pedestrian Bridge.

The county, in return, will refund the Braves a negotiated amount in project management costs.

The Braves will withdraw all other demands.

“The proposed settlement addresses concerns on both sides,” said Cobb County Commission Chairman Mike Boyce. “This reflects the partnership we have with the Braves and reinforces my belief that both sides always work toward finding amicable solutions.”
