David Martin, 55, had a woman at his home on Timberly Drive on the morning of Oct. 15, 2013 when the two got in an argument. The woman tried to leave, but Martin bound her wrists and ankles with zip ties and put a rope around her neck.

For the next half-day, prosecutors say that the woman was dragged by her hair, threatened with a handgun, and forced to have sex with Martin. To cap off the torture, Martin shaved the woman’s head and gave the shorn locks to her as a souvenir before letting her go.

A jury took about an hour to convict Martin of charges including rape, aggravated sodomy, false imprisonment, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during commission of a felony.

Cobb County Superior Court Judge Reuben M. Green gave Martin a life sentence plus five years for the weapons charge.
