Cobb Firefighter Suffered Heart Attack: Coroner

Stacey Boulware, 44, died Monday at a Cobb County fire station after responding to two calls back to back, officials say.

MARIETTA, GA — A Cobb County firefighter who died Monday after responding to two fire calls suffered a heart attack, according to the county medical examiner.

Stacey Boulware, 44, collapsed at Station 5 in Vinings, according to Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services. She was transported to Kennestone Hospital, where she later died.

On Tuesday, the Cobb County Medical Examiner's Office said preliminary autopsy results showed he had suffered a heart attack. A final determination of the cause of death is pending additional studies, which could show other medical diagnoses that contributed to her death.

Those results may take about 30 days to produce, Cobb County officials said Tuesday.

Boulware, who became a firefighter in 1999, was a veteran of the Cobb County Fire Hazardous Materials Team, serving at several different fire stations during her career. In 2015, she received the Firehouse Magazine Heroism Award and the Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services Firefighter Cross for her work rescuing a trapped person from a large fire.

On Monday, she had responded to two calls, back to back.
