Cobb High School Teacher of the Year from Smyrna
The Campbell High School teacher was one of three educators recognized with such honors in advance of the new school year.

A Smyrna educator is in elite company after being named the Cobb County School Districtβs elementary school Teacher of the Year for 2015-16.
1SG Kathryn Burns, the JROTC instructor at Campbell High School, was surprised earlier this week while pre-planning for the new school year when Superintendent Chris Ragsdale came to visit and told her she had won the award. She was congratulated by her colleagues, who are also gearing up for Mondayβs first day of school.

β[The winners] are now joining an elite and distinguished group of educators, identified as going above and beyond as teachers and leaders,β wrote the official Cobb County Schools blog.
The middle school winner was Cooper Middle School 7th grade science teacher Carol Mikus, while the elementary school winner was Chalker Elementary School kindergarten teacher Ginny Lyon.
