Retired Educators Honors Current Educators

The Cobb-Marietta Retired Educators Association presented scholarship awards at their monthly meeting. This year's four recipients are local educators who are working on degrees in the field of education. Each will receive a $2000 scholarship.
Gracie Bondurant- Fanny B. and Charlotte McClure Award

Gracie is a junior at Kennesaw State University pursuing a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Spanish Language and Culture and a teaching certificate. Her goal is to teach high school Spanish and eventually teach in a dual language immersion program.
Christine Di Natale- Ruby Sewell Wright Award

Currently employed at Campbell High School teaching Graphic Design, Christine left the graphic arts business world to become a teacher. She is attending Valdosta State University, where she is getting an M.Ed. in Adult and Career Education. Her goal is to be the best teacher she can be.
Sarah Rudolph- Fanny B. and Charlotte McClure Award
Sarah is teaching fourth grade special education at Riverside Intermediate School and has worked as a paraprofessional before she completed her certification courses. This year she is beginning work on her MAT at the University of West Georgia. Sarah sees teaching as a calling and wants to make a difference in the lives of her students.
Stephanie Shamblin- The Peggy Whitfield Award
One of two Gifted Specialists at Baker Elementary School, Stephanie has taught for thirteen years and loves her job. She is earning a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education at the University of West Georgia and will graduate in 2019. She likes to challenge herself and contributes much to her students, school and community.
